AI-Driven Bathroom Visualization App (Unity + AR Integration)
A home-renovation startup was building an AI-powered mobile app that lets users scan their bathroom with Apple RoomPlan, visualize it in 3D, customize every element, and place an order for a full renovation.
Problem
The team urgently needed a Unity developer who could take RoomPlan’s AR scan data and turn it into a fully interactive, editable 3D bathroom inside the app. They needed:
Accurate 3D reconstruction from RoomPlan
Clickable bathroom elements (tiles, toilet, shower, sink, etc.)
A UI system for replacing objects with variations from the company’s product catalog
Smooth navigation, panning, and camera controls
A workflow that hands the final customized bathroom back to Swift/iOS for ordering
They had no pipeline, no Unity scene generation, and no interactive systems in place.
My Role
Unity Developer - responsible for the Unity-based visualization and customization layer
What I Delivered
Converted RoomPlan’s scan data into a structured Unity scene representing the user’s bathroom
Implemented metric conversion and accurate dimension visualization
Built interactive hit-targets on all bathroom features
Developed a clean UI system allowing users to select, preview, and swap items from the company’s product catalog
Created camera controls for spatial panning, navigation, and looking around the bathroom
Added object-replacement logic for tiles, fixtures, hardware, and décor options
Connected Unity’s final output back to Swift so the user could proceed to checkout and schedule installation
Results
Unity prototype became fully functional and demo-ready
Users could freely explore and customize their scanned bathroom in 3D
The client’s product catalog became interactively browsable and replaceable in real time
The team unblocked their AI design workflow and moved forward with the product launch
